I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

How does the pirate quest use the city?
Secrets of Wismar asks you to join Klaus Störtebeker on a quest to reunite his crew. Your walk brings you past the Wasserkunst, Marienkirche with its surviving tower and Neue Kirche. The pirate story gives children a reason to stay involved between places, while the adults can help follow the clues. Make the search collaborative by asking everyone for an idea before entering the team's choice. This option for a family day out Wismar plays in the browser on your own phone, with no app to install.

What is the alternative for detective fans?
Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Wismar takes a self-guided detective story from the Marktplatz to the Wassertor. You see Marktplatz Wismar, Wasserkunst and Marienkirche along the route. This is a murder case, so choose it when the theme interests your family and suits the story you want to share with your children. You can walk and discuss the investigation together instead of leaving all the decisions to the person holding the screen. The game requires the free Loquiz app, unlike the browser-based pirate quest.
How can you keep the whole family involved?
A Wismar team shares one phone, costs €19.95 per team: one phone, at most 4 players, and plays for around 1.5 to 2 hours. For your family day out Wismar, give children a voice in how the team approaches the story. Take turns reading if they enjoy it, or let them concentrate on looking around while an adult handles the instructions. Pick your starting time on any day rather than rushing to meet a departure. Agree on the story before you set out so everyone knows what you have chosen. Your game is valid for 12 months, so there is flexibility when choosing a family date.
Can we play the pirate story without downloading anything?
Secrets of Wismar runs in your own phone browser with no app needed.
How long is a Wismar game?
Allow around 1.5 to 2 hours for either game. Both are self-guided walks.
Are the two stories the same activity?

How many family members share a team?
At most 4 players share one phone per team. Choose the story together before beginning.
