I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

How does the tower appear in Secrets?

Secrets of Wismar includes the Wasserkunst with Nix and Nixe, Marienkirche with its surviving tower and Neue Kirche along its walking route. The fictional story follows Klaus Störtebeker on a quest to reunite his crew, giving your group a shared objective between real locations. Notice the tower during the outing and keep the invented events separate from the history of the places. Arrange any separate interior visit independently of the game. Your companions can compare possible meanings of a clue before selecting an answer together, with each player able to contribute an observation. Sharing the prompt keeps the discovery collaborative while leaving attention for the surroundings rather than concentrating only on the phone throughout the walk.

What detective route includes the tower too?

Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Wismar includes Marktplatz Wismar, Alter Schwede, Wasserkunst and Marienkirche in that walking sequence. The fictional case gives your group clues to discuss while real locations provide changing surroundings. Choose this investigation if your companions prefer detective reasoning to the Störtebeker quest in Secrets. Agree on which premise everyone wants before selecting a game, then focus on one shared adventure together. Each person can offer an explanation or question a first answer, helping the team choose how to respond. Keep separately arranged visits outside the walking activity so the game and other parts of your day each receive their own time and attention while you explore the city with your companions on foot.

How do the team price and phone options compare?

Both adventures cost €19.95 per team, take about 1.5 to 2 hours and allow up to four players sharing one phone. Secrets runs in your own phone browser without an app; Sherlock Holmes uses the free Loquiz app. Flexible daily starts and 12 months of validity let you choose a suitable occasion. Leave space for the route and its tasks without rushing straight into another activity. During play, read prompts aloud or show the screen so all companions understand the current challenge. Comparing different ideas can make the next answer a shared discussion, keeping every player involved throughout the chosen adventure as you continue exploring real locations through the city together on foot.

Can we play without an app?

What is the maximum team size?
