I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

What dark history does Deventer have?
Deventer is one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands, and its past is close to the surface. Under the Lebuïnuskerk lies a Romanesque crypt from the eleventh century, low and vaulted, the kind of place that feels different on a grey late-October afternoon.
The city also remembers Geert Groote, the preacher born here in 1340, who died of the plague in 1384 after visiting the sick. Plague returned to the Hanseatic towns again and again, and the narrow streets of the Bergkwartier still follow the lines they had in those centuries. We would rather not invent ghosts: the real stones, the dark alleys and the mist rising from the IJssel are atmosphere enough.

Which games can you play in Deventer this Halloween?
Three games start in the city centre, and each one feels more atmospheric once the evenings draw in. Secrets of Deventer is an exploration game: you pass the Broederenkerk and the Deventer Theater and end up climbing towards the Bergkerk, solving puzzles and photo tasks on the way.
Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Deventer is a detective story based on Sherlock Holmes that takes you past the Geert Groote Huis, the Wilhelminabrug and the Lebuïnuskerk. The Deventer Syndicate (outdoor escape game) is an outdoor alternative to an escape room for 2 to 5 players, with the Stadhuis and the Duimpoort along the route. All three games run in the free Loquiz app and take 1.5 to 2 hours.
Is there a ghost game in Deventer?
Not yet, but Ghost Hunters, our Halloween ghost game, is coming to Deventer. Leave your e-mail address on this page and we will let you know when it starts.
Halloween is not an old Dutch tradition, though costumes and parties have become common in October. Start at dusk, dress warmly and let the old facades and church towers do the rest. The price is €19.95 per team: one phone, at most 4 players, and with HALLOWEEN50 you pay half until 2 November.
How long does a halloween Deventer city game take?
Each game takes 1.5 to 2 hours on foot. You walk at your own pace, without a guide.
What does it cost and how big can a team be?
It costs €19.95 per team: one phone, at most 4 players. For The Deventer Syndicate (outdoor escape game) a team has 2 to 5 players.
Do I need an app?

Can we play after dark?
