I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

How we check reviews

These reviews were left by players on Google and other review sites and are copied from there as they are, with their source.

Which detective route passes the church?

Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Deventer takes you past Geert Groote Huis, the church, Wilhelminabrug and the Toy Museum. These places give the investigation different settings while your group works on its case. You explore on foot, with the mystery providing something to discuss between the stops.

At the church, allow a moment for the building before returning to the screen. No admission or interior visit is specified for the game, so leave any separate visit its own place in your plans. Clear expectations help companions with different interests enjoy the same outing, balancing the case with attention to the real places along the route.

How does the exploration game include Bergkerk?

Secrets of Deventer begins on Broederenplein and takes you past Broederenkerk, Deventer Theater and Bergkerk. The walk combines exploring with puzzles and photo tasks, giving your group changing ways to take part. Choose it if varied tasks appeal more than carrying a single detective investigation through the outing.

Up to four players share one phone with the free Loquiz app, just as in the detective game. Let everyone hear each task and offer an approach before deciding on an answer. Reading and explaining can change hands as you go, helping the activity remain shared by the team rather than managed only by the person holding the phone.

How do time and starting arrangements compare?

Both games take 1.5 to 2 hours and cost €19.95 per team of up to four players. Both offer flexible daily starts and twelve months of validity after purchase. Compare the story styles with your companions and choose a suitable date for the walk you want to share.

Have the free Loquiz app ready on the team phone before beginning. Discuss whether the game will be the main outing or part of a longer day, and account for extra time at individual places separately from the game duration. A clear common plan helps everyone arrive ready for the activity while leaving room to notice the church and other route settings.

Do both games pass the church?

Yes, it appears on both the detective and exploration routes.

How many people can share a game?

Up to four players use one phone per team.

Does either game include church admission?

No church admission or interior visit is specified.

Do we need a departure slot?

No, both activities offer flexible daily starts.
