I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

How does the puzzle game include the church?

Secrets of Rotterdam begins from the Markthal and includes the church, the Erasmus Monument and the Cube Houses. Your walk combines city exploration with puzzles and photo tasks, giving your group different ways to participate. The church becomes one of the places you notice as the activity develops through the city.

This game runs in your phone browser with no app to install. Up to four players share one device. Let everyone hear the instructions and contribute an idea before deciding on an answer. Keeping the choices open to the team makes the walk a common activity rather than a route one person manages for everyone else.

What is the outdoor escape option?

The Rotterdam Syndicate (outdoor escape game) takes you from Binnenrotte past the church, then the Cube Houses and Oudehaven. You follow Magnus and the stolen formulas through the streets, with a continuing mission connecting the places you see. Choose this version if your group prefers a pursuit to varied puzzle and photo tasks.

The outdoor escape activity allows up to five players on one shared phone and uses the free Loquiz app. That differs from the browser-based puzzle walk, so prepare the phone for the game you select. Both are self-guided ways to give your city outing a shared direction as you explore together.

What should your group know before choosing?

Both games take 1.5 to 2 hours and cost €19.95 per team. The puzzle walk permits four players, while the outdoor escape mission permits five. Both offer flexible daily starts and remain valid for twelve months after purchase. Choose based on your group size, preferred activity and the phone setup each game uses.

At the church, take a moment to notice the building before returning to your chosen task or story. No interior visit or church admission is specified. If you want additional visiting time at this or other sights, plan it alongside the game duration so everyone understands the outing you have arranged together.

Do both routes include the church?

Yes, both games list the church among their route stops.

Which game works without an app?

Secrets of Rotterdam runs in your phone browser without an app.

Which game allows five players?

Does either game include church admission?
