I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

How can the Binnenhof fit into your city visit?

Binnenhof is a historic parliamentary complex in The Hague. You can make the landmark part of your wider sightseeing plans while choosing a game route that passes it. Consider the complex within the surrounding city view rather than making the activity depend on going inside a particular building. Compare what your teammates notice during the walk without adding another quiz. Then return to your chosen game and continue together. The route can connect places to see with a shared task or story on your phone.

Which detective story passes this sight?

Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in The Hague passes the Binnenhof and leads from Buitenhof past Hofvijver and Mauritshuis. Along its route you see Huis van het Boek, The Hague’s Historic Museum and Mauritshuis. Choose it if investigating a case interests your group. Let different teammates explain a possible answer before deciding what to enter. Someone without the phone can still offer a useful observation. This gives everyone a role, keeping the activity shared while your group walks and follows the story through the city together.

Which chase and exploration options can you compare?

The The Hague Syndicate (outdoor escape game) follows Magnus and the stolen formulas from Buitenhof and Binnenhof to Lange Voorhout. You see Buitenhof, Riviervismarkt and the old town hall along its route. It is an outdoor escape game on the streets. Another choice is Secrets of The Hague, leading from Buitenhof past Gevangenpoort and De Passage with puzzles to solve. You see De Passage, Gravenstraat and Grote of Sint-Jacobskerk on that route. Choose it for exploration; for Binnenhof, Sherlock and The Syndicate are the named passing routes.
