I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

What makes the museum a useful point on the walk?
The museum adds a named cultural stop to a detective outing on foot. It gives your group somewhere specific to look at between the decisions of the game. The walking activity and a separate museum visit are different plans, so leave room for both if you want to explore beyond the route stop.
Arriving with that expectation makes the day easier to organise. Some companions may be most interested in the case, while others want to take in the places you pass. Allow a moment for the setting before returning to the phone, keeping the investigation and the city in the same shared outing.

Which places does the detective route connect?
Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in The Hague takes you past Huis van het Boek, then the historic museum, Mauritshuis and the island in the Hofvijver. The walk gives your case several city settings while your team works through the mystery. Look up between instructions so those places remain part of what you experience.
The game is self-guided in the free Loquiz app. Up to four players use one phone per team. There is no need for one person to make every decision just because they hold the device. Invite different ideas into the conversation before you agree on how to continue the investigation.
How can you plan a visit around the game?
Allow 1.5 to 2 hours for the detective game and add any separate visiting time you want. The team price is €19.95, covering up to four players sharing one phone. You can start whenever you like each day, and the purchase stays valid for twelve months, so the date can be chosen with your companions.
Have the free Loquiz app ready before beginning. It also helps to agree whether the game will be the main activity or one part of a longer day. That way everyone knows what the walking time represents and you can enjoy the investigation without confusing it with time reserved for other visits.
Is museum entry included?
No museum admission is specified for the walking game.
Does the detective route pass the museum?
Yes. It is one of the listed route stops.
How many people can share the game?
Up to four players form a team using one phone.
When can we begin?
You can choose your own daily start within twelve months of purchase.
