I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

How does the puzzle walk bring you past the tower?
Secrets of Zwolle begins on Grote Kerkplein and leads past the Peperbus and Sassenpoort with puzzles along the route. These places give your walk a succession of city settings. The tower can be a moment to look up and take in the surroundings before returning to the shared activity.
No tower admission or climb is specified for the game, so treat any separate tower visit as its own plan. You can notice the building from outside as part of the walk. Giving a landmark a short moment of attention helps the outing include the physical city as well as the tasks on the phone.

What makes this a group activity rather than just a route?
Secrets of Zwolle gives your group puzzles to work through while exploring the city on foot. The tasks provide something to discuss between the places you see. Companions can suggest different approaches, so the walk has a shared purpose beyond deciding which street to take next.
You play self-guided with the free Loquiz app on one phone for up to four players. Make sure everyone can hear the task before choosing an answer. The person holding the device need not make every decision. Invite someone else to explain their idea, and change who reads if that helps the whole team stay involved as the activity continues.
Which alternative follows a detective case?
Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Zwolle offers a separate investigation from Grote Kerk to Sassenpoort. Its route also includes Museum de Fundatie. Choose it if a detective story is what your group wants to carry through the walk. For the exploration route that passes the tower, select Secrets of Zwolle.
Both games take 1.5 to 2 hours and cost €19.95 per team of up to four players sharing one phone. Each uses the free Loquiz app, can be started whenever you like each day and remains valid for twelve months after purchase. Compare the activity styles with your companions and choose a date that works for your group.
