I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

Why include the exchange building in your outing?

The Handelsbeurs is an exchange building on Borzestraat 31 in Antwerp and is passed by Secrets and The Syndicate. Looking at its setting adds another kind of landmark to a walk through squares and other city spaces. Pause to notice the building from outside before continuing your activity. A game connects that sightseeing moment with a common story for your group. You might enjoy the adventure with Silvius Brabo or prefer pursuing stolen formulas through the streets. Choose the theme with your companions before setting off, so the exchange becomes one recognisable part of a wider outing where everyone shares something to follow together.

Which stories take you past the Handelsbeurs?

Secrets of Antwerp passes the Handelsbeurs while you join Silvius Brabo to track a shapeshifting giant. Along its route you see the city hall before Grote Markt, then Het Steen and Vleeshuis. The Antwerp Syndicate (outdoor escape game) also passes the exchange, following Magnus and stolen formulas from Groenplaats. You encounter Vlaeykensgang before Steenplein and later Vleeshuis during that street pursuit. For a detective alternative, Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Antwerp begins at Grote Markt. Its route includes Plantin-Moretus Museum before the Rubens House and Museum aan de Stroom, giving your group another story to compare before deciding which activity to share during the city visit.

How do the phone setups and team limits compare?

Secrets of Antwerp runs in the browser on your own phone with no app, while Sherlock Holmes and The Syndicate use the free Loquiz app. Each game takes 1.5 to 2 hours and costs €19.95 per team. Secrets and Sherlock Holmes allow at most 4 players on one phone; The Syndicate allows at most 5. Check the themes and maximum sizes with the people joining you before choosing what to play. You may start whenever you want, every day, and the game stays valid for 12 months. Arrange a convenient meeting time and leave room for the activity within your visit together.
