I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

Where can you look at the museum?

Plantin Moretus Museum is a museum at Vrijdagmarkt 22 in Antwerp. You can look at its exterior during your city exploration without adding details about collections. Take in the whole building before noticing smaller parts. A brief pause gives the sight attention beyond its name on a route. Compare what caught your teammates’ eye, then return to your selected activity. The museum can be one sightseeing moment within a wider route that gives your team tasks or a story to share as you walk through Antwerp together.

Which exploration story passes the museum?

Secrets of Antwerp passes Plantin Moretus Museum and follows Silvius Brabo in a search for a shapeshifting giant. Along its route you see Antwerp City Hall, Grote Markt and Het Steen. It works in the browser on your own phone, with no app. Choose it if the shared search appeals to your group. Let different teammates explain possible answers before entering one, keeping the activity shared. Choose the game before preparing the phone, because the other listed Antwerp options use the free Loquiz app instead of the browser.

Another option is The Antwerp Syndicate (outdoor escape game), tracking Magnus and the stolen formulas from Groenplaats past Grote Markt to Steenplein. You see Vlaeykensgang, Steenplein and Vleeshuis on that route. It is an outdoor escape game through the streets. Both options use the free Loquiz app. Choose The Syndicate for the chase; for the museum, Secrets and Sherlock are the named passing routes.

What are the game costs and team limits?

The listed Antwerp games cost €19.95 per team and take 1.5 to 2 hours. Secrets and Sherlock allow up to four players sharing one phone; The Syndicate allows up to five.
