I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

How we check reviews

These reviews were left by players on Google and other review sites and are copied from there as they are, with their source.

How can the square fit into your street adventure?

The Almere Syndicate (outdoor escape game) passes the square as part of a pursuit involving Magnus and the stolen formulas. Your group explores on foot with a common activity connecting the walk beyond one destination. The real place can have its own moment of attention alongside the story on the phone.

Allow your companions time to notice the setting before reading the next instruction. Different people may enjoy different aspects of the outing, so it helps to make room for both the place and the mission. A brief exchange about what catches each person’s attention keeps the city present in your shared experience before you return to the pursuit together.

Which route places accompany the mission?

The Almere Syndicate (outdoor escape game) lists Nieuwe Bibliotheek, the city hall and Esplanade among its route stops. The walk begins from Stadspark, giving your group a starting point for the pursuit. These places provide settings while you follow Magnus and the stolen formulas through the city streets.

Up to five players share one phone with the free Loquiz app. Let everyone hear each task and offer an approach before agreeing on an answer. Reading and explaining can change hands during the outing, so the device holder does not have to manage every decision alone. This helps the mission remain common to all players as you explore.

How does the browser-based exploration differ?

Secrets of Almere offers a separate walk from Kunstlinie Almere past the Weerwater Promenade and the city hall, with puzzles and photo tasks. It runs in your phone browser without an app and allows up to four players. Choose the Syndicate pursuit for an outdoor escape mission with five players and the square described here.

Both activities take 1.5 to 2 hours and cost €19.95 per team on one phone. Both offer flexible daily starts and twelve months of validity after purchase. Compare the routes, team limits and phone setups with your companions before choosing a suitable day. Additional time at individual places belongs alongside the game duration.
