I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

Which adventures bring you past the library?

The Almere Syndicate (outdoor escape game) includes Nieuwe Bibliotheek Almere, followed by Stadhuis Almere, Esplanade and Citadel. Your team follows Magnus and the stolen formulas through the city, combining the mission with places to encounter along the way. Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Almere also includes the library, under the name De Nieuwe Bibliotheek, after Weerwater. That game follows a detective case through the centre, starting from Stadspark. Choose between the outdoor mission and the investigation according to what your companions enjoy. A library interior visit is a separate activity to arrange if you want to add it to your plans.

What kind of walk does Secrets offer?

Secrets of Almere combines a self-guided exploration game with puzzles and photo tasks. Its route takes you from Kunstlinie Almere to Weerwater Promenade, followed by The Tongue of Lucifer Sculpture and Almere City Hall. The library is also a place the game passes, giving you another location to notice during your outing. This discovery format suits a group that wants activities spread through a walk rather than a single detective case. Consider it if your companions enjoy looking around and doing different tasks together. You can make the outing as much about the conversation and observations as about deciding on the next answer.

How does your team get started?

Secrets works in your phone browser without an app, while Sherlock Holmes and the Syndicate use the free Loquiz app. Each game costs €19.95 per team and takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Up to four people share one phone for Secrets or Sherlock Holmes; the Syndicate allows up to five. Flexible daily starting times and 12 months of validity let you choose a convenient day and moment. Agree on the adventure first, then make sure the whole team can follow what appears on the shared phone. Discussing the prompts together gives every player a role, regardless of who is carrying the device.

Can we choose a game without an app?

Yes. Secrets of Almere runs in your phone browser without installation.

Does the Syndicate include the library?

Yes. Nieuwe Bibliotheek Almere is a stop on the Syndicate route.

Is the cost for one person?

No. The listed €19.95 is per team.

Which game accepts five players?

The Almere Syndicate allows up to five players on one phone.
