I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

Where does the venue appear on the puzzle route?
Secrets of Enschede starts on Oude Markt and takes you past Grote Kerk, St. Jacobuskerk and De Kleine Willem before the venue. These stops give your walk different city settings while puzzles and photo tasks provide the common activity. The venue is part of that route rather than a performance visit included with the game.
No concert ticket or venue admission is specified for the activity. If you want to attend a performance separately, plan it independently alongside the walk. At the stop, give the real place a moment before reading onward. Clear expectations help companions understand what the shared day includes and where additional plans belong in the rest of your outing.

How does the activity work on a shared device?
Secrets of Enschede is self-guided through the free Loquiz app on one phone for up to four players. The different task types allow different contributions, from explaining a puzzle answer to helping arrange a photograph. Your companions have a common activity without needing everyone to prefer the same part most.
Let the whole group hear each instruction before choosing a response. Someone without the device may suggest another approach worth explaining. You can change who reads or leads the discussion during the walk, so the phone holder does not have to manage every decision alone. This helps the activity remain open to all players as you explore between the route settings.
What investigation can you choose as an alternative?
Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Enschede starts from Oude Markt and includes Grote Kerk, the synagogue and Het Volkspark. Choose it for a continuing detective case, or the exploration activity for varied tasks and the route including the venue described here. Both are self-guided ways to give your walk a shared purpose.
Each game takes 1.5 to 2 hours and costs €19.95 per team of up to four players sharing one phone. Both use the free Loquiz app, offer flexible daily starts and remain valid for twelve months after purchase. Compare the formats with your group, then find a suitable date. Extra visiting time belongs alongside the game duration.
