I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

How we check reviews

These reviews were left by players on Google and other review sites and are copied from there as they are, with their source.

What connects the castle with the walking route?

Secrets of Montfoort passes De Sint-Janskerk, Het Oude Stadhuis and the castle during its city walk. These real settings give your group places to see while the game offers a shared activity. The castle becomes part of an exploration where looking around and solving can both have attention.

Pause to look before returning to another instruction on your phone. Seeing a landmark along a route and planning an independent visit are different activities. Leave additional sightseeing time alongside the game so the walking activity has room of its own instead of trying to include every other visit inside the same playing duration as you explore together on foot.

How do your companions join in with the puzzles?

Your team follows riddles and photo tasks in the free Loquiz app using one phone. At most 4 players share Secrets of Montfoort, exploring without an accompanying guide. Read each challenge where everyone can hear it and compare the suggestions before choosing an answer together.

A couple can think through a question side by side, while friends or colleagues may offer different approaches. Give another player time to explain an idea even if the device stays with the same person. Taking turns contributing keeps the activity open to everyone, while the real places along the walk provide something else to notice between questions than only the next solution on a screen.

What should your group arrange before starting?

Secrets of Montfoort costs €19.95 per team and lasts 1.5 to 2 hours, with one phone for at most 4 players. Choose your shared device and companions beforehand. Reserve space for walking as well as solving, with independent visits given separate time around the activity in your day.

You can start whenever you want, every day, and the game remains valid for 12 months. Pick when the outing works for your group and your visit to Montfoort. Open the app ready to share the challenges, giving the puzzle walk time of its own while the real route provides settings to see together between questions as you continue exploring the city on foot.
