I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

How we check reviews

These reviews were left by players on Google and other review sites and are copied from there as they are, with their source.

What activity brings you past this church?

Secrets of Montfoort passes Johannes de Doper kerk during a walking game with puzzles and photo tasks. The church is a real religious place, while the activity provides shared tasks for your group. A passing route does not establish admission or an included interior tour, so organise any independent visit outside the game. Notice the setting respectfully before sharing the next instruction aloud. You do not need to invent a history lesson to appreciate reaching a named destination. Let each player suggest an approach before the team decides what to try, keeping the activity in your group conversation instead of leaving all the information and decisions to whoever holds the phone.

Which places frame the Montfoort description?

The game description leads past De Sint-Janskerk, Het Oude Stadhuis and the castle. These places give Secrets of Montfoort a real city setting alongside the church featured here. Follow the game for actual progress rather than making an independent visiting programme from the names alone. Any separate interior sightseeing needs its own arrangements outside the activity. Between puzzles, compare possible answers and invite another teammate to suggest how to approach a photo task. The walking gives those discussions time while the tasks connect your choices throughout the outing. Reading the information aloud keeps everyone involved in the same activity instead of simply following the device holder's directions.

How do access, time and price work?

Secrets of Montfoort costs €19.95 per team and takes 1.5 to 2 hours. At most 4 players share one phone using the free Loquiz app. Friends, colleagues or a couple can follow the same instructions when they are read aloud and responses discussed before an answer is entered. Give different players a turn to offer the first suggestion, keeping the shared device as a tool for the whole group's participation. You can start whenever you want, every day, and the game remains valid for 12 months. Reserve enough time for walking and solving together, with independent church or other sightseeing visits outside the activity's own duration.
