I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

Which dark stories does Berlin have?
Berlin's oldest ghost story belongs to the Hohenzollern family: the White Lady, a pale figure who was said to appear in their palaces before a death in the family.
Other dark stories are simply true. In the Marienkirche, near Alexanderplatz, a long medieval mural shows the dance of death, with Death leading people of every rank away. The Topography of Terror stands on the site where the Gestapo and the SS had their headquarters, and a little further on, Checkpoint Charlie and the Black Box Cold War exhibition remind you of the divided city. On a cold autumn evening, when the light goes early, these places make Berlin feel heavy with its past.

How does Berlin celebrate Halloween?
Halloween in Berlin is mostly a night of costume parties in bars and clubs, and in some neighbourhoods children go from door to door. It is a fairly new custom in Germany, so there is no single way the city celebrates it.
That leaves room for your own plan. A halloween Berlin evening outside, in the dark streets around Alexanderplatz or Checkpoint Charlie, is a good start before dinner or a party. You choose your own pace and can stop for a hot drink on the way.
Which game do you play on a Halloween evening?
Our three games in Berlin take 1.5–2 hours and cost €19.95 per team: one phone, at most 4 players.
Secrets of Berlin runs in the browser on your own phone, no app, and leads you past the Martin-Gropius-Bau, the Topography of Terror and the Trabi Museum to Checkpoint Charlie. The Berlin Syndicate (outdoor escape game) is an outdoor alternative to an escape room for 2 to 5 players: you start on Alexanderplatz and pass the Marienkirche, the Block der Frauen and the Neptunbrunnen. The Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Berlin has a story based on Sherlock Holmes and takes you from the Altes Museum to the Berlin TV Tower. Both run in the free Loquiz app.
