I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

How does the windmill connect with the game?
Secrets of Zaanse Schans passes De Gekroonde Poelenburg during a city walk with puzzles and photo tasks. The windmill is a real destination to appreciate, while the game supplies the activity your group shares. A passing route does not establish admission or an included interior tour, so make independent visiting arrangements separately. You can look around without inventing a historical account of the mill. Then read the next instruction aloud and let every player explain an approach before the team chooses an answer. This keeps the outing shared instead of leaving one person to interpret the screen while the rest simply follows the phone holder's decisions.

Which places frame the wider walking activity?
Zaandam Time Museum and Zonnewijzerspad (Sundial Path) are among the named stops for Secrets of Zaanse Schans. With the windmill featured here, they give the activity a real setting in Zaanse Schans. The game description also places your walk among windmills, wooden houses and riverside workshops. Follow the game for actual directions rather than building a separate tour timetable from these names. Any independent museum or mill visit needs its own arrangements outside the activity. Between tasks, invite a different player to explain an answer or suggest how to approach a photo task. The walking gives those discussions room while the puzzles connect the group's choices.
What do you need for playing together?
Secrets of Zaanse Schans costs €19.95 per team and takes 1.5 to 2 hours. At most 4 players share one phone, using the free Loquiz app. Friends, colleagues or a couple can work from the same instructions when they are read aloud and responses discussed before an answer is entered. Let different people offer the first suggestion, keeping the shared device as a tool for the whole group. You can start whenever you want, every day, and your game is valid for 12 months. Reserve enough time for walking and solving together, with independent sightseeing visits outside the game's own activity and duration.
