I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

How we check reviews

These reviews were left by players on Google and other review sites and are copied from there as they are, with their source.

What can you notice around the museum entrance?

Secrets of Zaanse Schans passes the entrance area of Zaandam Time Museum and continues along Zonnewijzerspad, the Sundial Path. The walking route brings your team among windmills, wooden houses and riverside workshops. Those surroundings give you something to look at beyond the next task on your phone.

The entrance-area stop is a chance to pause and notice where you are before returning to the game. Seeing a museum along a route is separate from arranging an independent visit inside. If you want more sightseeing, plan its time alongside the walking activity so that your group can enjoy both looking around and solving without squeezing them together.

How does the self-guided game work?

You follow riddles and photo tasks in the free Loquiz app on one phone during Secrets of Zaanse Schans. At most 4 players share a team, exploring without an accompanying guide. Read each instruction aloud so that everyone can consider the same challenge before you answer.

A partner might interpret something another way, and friends or colleagues can compare their suggestions. Let those ideas become part of the walk rather than leaving the thinking only to the device holder. You can change who reads or leads the discussion as you go. That makes the challenges a shared activity alongside seeing the real surroundings.

When can you start and what is the price?

Secrets of Zaanse Schans costs €19.95 per team and takes 1.5 to 2 hours. One phone serves at most 4 players. Decide which device to use before beginning, and leave room for walking between places as well as working through the questions together.

You can start whenever you want, every day, and the game stays valid for 12 months. Choose a time that fits your visit to Zaanse Schans and your companions' plans. Open the app ready to share the challenges, keeping any other activities separate in your day so the walking game has space of its own from the outset.
