I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

Where does the museum fit into the route?
Secrets of Zaanse Schans includes Zaandam Time Museum and its entrance area on a self-guided walking exploration. The route also includes Zonnewijzerspad, the Sundial Path, and a Traditional Zaan House Sign. These places connect your interest in the museum with a wider outing through Zaanse Schans on foot.
At the museum stop, take a moment to look around before returning to the activity. The broader exploration passes windmills, wooden houses and riverside workshops, giving your group real surroundings to notice as the walk continues. You can enjoy seeing where you arrive while still having something common to follow afterwards. The route supplies destinations and the activity supplies conversation between them.

How does the exploration work for a group?
At most 4 players share one team on one phone, using the free Loquiz app to follow the game. You explore Zaanse Schans on foot, keeping the same activity available on a single device. Each teammate can contribute thoughts without having to follow an individual screen.
Make the information part of your conversation before deciding how to proceed. Reading aloud, explaining an idea and hearing another suggestion can help keep everyone involved. A couple, friends or colleagues may enjoy bringing different perspectives to the exploration. Keep the choices shared so the person carrying the phone is supporting a group outing rather than making every decision while the others simply walk alongside.
What do you need to arrange before setting out?
The game costs €19.95 per team and takes 1.5 to 2 hours, with flexible starting every day. Your purchase remains valid for 12 months. Choose a playing time that gives your group room for the activity within its Zaanse Schans plans.
Arrange any independent museum visit separately from the walking game and its duration. Before beginning, decide who is joining and which phone you will share, staying within the limit of 4 players per team. Once you start, give attention to the real surroundings as well as the activity on the device. Your route connects the places, while the group’s discussion helps make the time between destinations part of the experience you share together.
