I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

Which sights are part of the Salzburg walk?
Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Salzburg takes you from the Mozart statue through the old town towards the fortress hill. Along the route you see Residenzplatz, Mirabell Palace and Fortress Hohensalzburg. Your phone carries the detective information while these places provide the setting for your investigation. When comparing things to do in Salzburg, this offers a walk with a case to keep discussing throughout the outing. Let everyone follow the story and look around as you go, so the activity stays connected to the city’s surroundings instead of keeping the group’s attention only on the screen as it moves between places.

How can your group work on the case?
At most four players share one phone in the Salzburg detective game. You can read the information together and compare your interpretations of the mystery. Friends or colleagues can bring different perspectives, while a couple can make the walk a joint investigation. Give everyone a chance to understand the story before deciding what your team thinks. The outing is self-guided, leaving the walking pace to your own group. Sharing the information throughout the route helps the case remain a conversation between everyone, rather than something only the phone holder is following while the rest of the team walks along.
What should you plan for the game?
The Salzburg game takes around 1.5 to 2 hours and uses the free Loquiz app. It costs €19.95 per team: one phone, at most 4 players. You can start whenever you want, every day, and the game is valid for 12 months. If you are arranging things to do in Salzburg around other plans, leave room for the full walking case.
